Tapwave Zodiac Inches Ever Closer
The Tapwave Zodiac has been approved for sale by the FCC.  And with that approval comes the chance to see a few extra photos of the device and a preliminary look at the user manual.

Unfortunately, after sifting through it all, there isn't much new to report that you don't already know.  Aside from finally getting to see what the back looks like (which, BTW, is where the stylus snaps in), the only extra bit of new info is that only one of the SD expansion slots is SDIO-capable.  Whether this is due to a hardware or OS limitation is unknown.  Still, with the built-in Bluetooth, having only one SDIO-capable slot isn't bad.  Chances are, most users would be dedicating one of the slots to expansion memory, anyway.

In related news...Tapwave has started advertising in various magazines including XBox Nation.

Update (9/12/2003):
Whoops.  Ed over at Brighthand pointed out a couple of other details that the user manual revealed.  The Zodiac will come bundled with two games.  The first, Stunt Car Extreme, is a 3D racing game that should show off the potential of the Zodiac.  The other, Acid Solitaire, will be more appropriate when "taking notes" during boring business meetings.  Also, only the 128MB model will come with a sync/charge cradle.  Finally, in case I left it out of one of my prior reports, the Zodiac does come with its own MP3 player which we now know has been creatively named "Music."
